Darklight by Lesley Livingston

Paranormal romance, deceased sisters, fallen angels, fairies and homosexuality are some of the topics you can find in Shannon Donnelly’s recommendations for books to read during Spring break. This list reveals some trends in Young Adult fiction.

Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan

First, the science fictionesque characters: werewolves, fairies, angels, sorcerers and all the other characters one could find accompanying such a crowd, make about half of Donelly’s selection.

Second, falling for the -sometimes reformed- bad boy: whether he is a fallen angel or your average human being, girls in these books can’t get enough of them.

Third, first love: again, whether it is with a supernatural character, someone of the same gender or a schoolmate, these books will resonate with those that still remember their first love -no matter what category they fit into.

What kind of Young Adult books do you like?
