Forget judging a book by its cover, the Diagram Prize looks solely at the title. The prize, first awarded in 1978 as a diversion to the Frankfurt Book Fair, goes to the book with the weirdest title. The Guardian reports that books from the medical field are a favorite among judges. This year the BBC announced the prize went to Daina Taimina’s Crocheting Adventures with Hyperbolic Planes. The book explains how to make geometric models using embroidery.
