Hekes & Dekes: 2010 Hugo Nominations!

The finalists for the Hugo Awards are finally out!  The awards started in 1953 to honor the best of the science fiction community, and this year’s awards will be decided and announced in Melbourne, Australia on September 5, 2010.

Among the nominees for Best Novel are Boneshaker by Cherie Priest and The Windup Girl by Paolo Bacigalupi.  Among the Best Short Story nominees are “The Moment” by Lawrence M. Shoen and “Bridesicle” by Will McIntosh.

Just a couple for best graphic novel are Batman: Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader? by Neil Gaiman, Andy Kubert, and Scott Williams and Schlock Mercenary: The Longshoreman of the Apocalypse by Howard Tayler.  Avatar, Star Trek, and Up are among the nominees for Best Dramatic Presentation, Long Form, and a couple Dr. Who episodes as well as an episode of Dollhouse are up for Best Dramatic Presentation, Short Form.

  1. Don’t forget the Nebula Awards! Nominations aren’t up yet, but the award will be given in May. And also the John W Campbell Awards for Best New Writer (sci-fi/fantasy) and for Best Science Fiction Novel.
